How do you believe you can succeed in the role of a Dance Officer?  - I believe that I have leadership and team building skills, that coupled with my communication and adaptability skills make me someone who could have great success in this role.

 

What do you believe are the most important responsibilities of a Dance Officer?  - To me the most important responsibilities are leadership, communication, accountability, and self-awareness.

 

What qualities do you believe set you apart from other candidates for this role of Officer?  - I have a strong understanding of dance, attention to detail, and my active listening skills.

 

How do you demonstrate being an example or role model of a Topcat in your behavior both in and out of practice? - Both in and out of Topcats, I demonstrate being a role model by consistently being dependable, maintaining a positive attitude, and showing respect for everyone around me. I also try to be someone my teammates can rely on, be it punctuality, commitment to rehearsals, or supporting them in and out of practice.

 

How can you be innovative as a Dance Officer & leader for the topcats team? - I can be innovative by blending creativity, fresh ideas, and new approaches that can push the boundaries of what the team can achieve.

 

What are your goals for the 2025-2026 topcats team?  - My goals for the 2025-2026 Topcats team are to improve our overall performance, strengthen team cohesion, and help each member reach their full potential. I want us to have fun while working hard and making great memories together.

 

What is something that you did during the 2024-2025 season that you regret/wish you wouldn’t have done? What do you wish you would have done differently? What could that decision or experience teach you moving forward? - honestly I wish that I was more confident during this entire year. I wish that I had spoken up more during the year and was less shy, especially in the beginning. It taught me to use my communication skills and to be more outgoing with people that are new.

 

How can you continue to grow next year as a leader in topcats while also serving your team?  - I can continue to grow as a leader next year by seeking feedback from my teammates and being open to learning from their perspectives. By focusing on collaboration and supporting each member's growth, I can help foster a positive environment where everyone feels valued and motivated.

 

What did you enjoy most about your role on the team as a sergeant this past year?  - One of the best things about being a sergeant was that it helped with my connections in the team. It also helped with my confidence and communication with speaking up. I loved being behind all of the big team activities and all of the planning behind it.

 

What do you value as important as the role of the sergeants on our team?  - I think the role of the sergeants is super important because they set the tone for the team and help maintain a positive atmosphere. They also play a key role in communication, making sure everyone feels heard and supported. That kind of leadership is crucial for everyone’s success.

 

How do you feel like you grew this year in the role that you were given?  - I feel that I grew in understanding the needs of the team with my responsibilities for birthdays, team social activities and assisting with other bonding events that helped with making me a better version of me. 

 

Explain a time where something was challenging and you faced that challenge? - I used to struggle with really bad anxiety and before every pep rally I would get anxiety attacks and my friend had to calm me down, now I’m on meds so I have gotten way better yet sometimes it still flares up when we have big things.

 

What is something you wish you would have done differently or something you would change?  - I wish I would have started out when I first joined the topcats team on my meds so I would have been better and more outgoing and better with my performance and emotion.

 

How will you proceed with the Topcats organization if you do not make your desired position?  - If I don’t make my desired position with the Topcats, I’ll still stay committed and support the team in any way I can. I’ll focus on contributing positively, learning from the experience, and continuing to grow as a dancer, so I can be ready for future opportunities.

 

How can you continue to be a leader for your team? Why do you think your attitude and reaction to this tryout is so important?  - I can continue to be a leader for my team by staying positive, supporting my teammates, and setting a good example through my actions. My attitude and reaction to this tryout are important because they can influence the team's morale and show that I’m committed, regardless of the outcome.

 

How can you be proactive as a sergeant and in all the sergeant responsibilities? - As a sergeant, I can be proactive by regularly checking in with team members to address any concerns and provide support. I’ll also take the initiative to plan ahead for practices and events, ensuring everyone is prepared and knows their roles, which will help create a smooth and efficient team environment.

 

How do you plan to continue to grow next year as a member or leader of the topcats team? - Next year, I plan to continue growing by taking additional dance classes to refine my skills and bring new ideas to the Topcats. As a leader, I’ll encourage open feedback and organize team-building activities to strengthen our bond and enhance our performances.
